It is with endless gratitude that I write this final President’s message. There are not enough ways to say thank you to all of you for the wonderful year we have shared together and for all your support, friendship and all the time and effort you put in to making our Rotary and community a better and kinder place.
I would also like to say a special thank you to Cathy Smiley, our amazing President Nominee, for leading the meeting this week while I am in Barcelona. Coincidentally, Barcelona has a tie to Rotary as it is the home of the 2027 Rotary International Convention. As we have been exploring the city, I have thought many times of what it will be like here when thousands of Rotarians visit next year to learn more about RI and how our beloved organization can continue to do good in the world.
Barcelona, Spain is a seamless fit for the RI Convention as this city has a history of celebrating the human spirit when it hosted the 1992 Summer Olympic Games. Both entities celebrate international unity, resilience, and a deep-seated gratitude for global collaboration. The mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, highlighted that hosting this "mini-United Nations" underscores Barcelona's identity as a safe harbor committed to peace, diversity, and global cooperation. Sounds like a perfect match to me.
Thank you so for the unity you bring to our beloved Rotary and all the ways you have “united for good this year.” You have my love, friendship and my own deep-seated gratitude.
Kindest Regards,
Trudie
