Think about it. We join Rotary to enjoy fellowship, make new friends, and do a little good in the community.
Next thing you know, we're serving on three committees, volunteering for two projects, selling fundraiser tickets, recruiting sponsors, attending planning meetings, and wondering how we ended up responsible for moving 60 pieces of furniture and a giant horseshoe.
And somehow, when someone asks, "Can anybody help with one more thing?" several hands still go up.
I've come to believe that Rotarians have a unique relationship with chaos. We don't necessarily create it, but we seem remarkably comfortable operating in the middle of it.
And the funny thing is, we actually enjoy ourselves along the way.
So, in honor of Chaos Never Dies Day, I encourage you to take a breath, enjoy a little peace and quiet, and resist the temptation to volunteer for anything else this week.
Who am I kidding? Half of you probably volunteered for something before you finished reading this.
Until next Wednesday, may something good happen because you were there.
